Rimtune: Drum Tuner

Tap near a rod. Rimtune shows which way to turn it. Most drum tuner apps give you one number and leave you to work out the rest. Rimtune draws the head you are tuning, seen from above, with one node for every tension rod. Each tap lands on the rod it is marked for, and the node turns blue when that rod needs tightening, orange when it needs loosening, green when it is in. The next rod is picked for you in the star pattern every tuning guide teaches. When every rod is green, the head reads Even. ONE HIT FOR THE NOTE Hit the centre and Rimtune gives the drum's note, in Hz and as a note name, against the target you set. Flat or sharp, it tells you to turn every rod by the same amount. READINGS THAT HOLD STILL A drum's overtones are not multiples of its note, so ordinary tuners jump between 119 and 174 Hz on the same drum. Rimtune reads each strike's spectrum and names the drum's own modes, and it ignores a tap mixed with the ring of the one before, instead of guessing. FREE ON EVERY DRUM Snare, rack tom, floor tom and kick, 8 to 26 inches, 4 to 16 rods, with a starting range for each size. Tuning rods and checking the note never cost anything. WORKS AS A SNARE TUNER, TOM TUNER AND KICK DRUM TUNER Pick the drum, its size and its number of tension rods, and the drum tuner sets the range for you. Tune the batter head, then the resonant head. Drummers use it for drum tuning at home, in the studio and at the gig change over. RIMTUNE PRO, ONE PAYMENT Keep every drum of your kit with its note and its rods. Set the resonant head from the batter at the interval you like. Space your toms in thirds or fourths. See each strike's modes. Keep several kits, each with a name. No subscription. PRIVATE BY DESIGN Rimtune listens only while it is open. Each strike is measured on the phone and thrown away: nothing is recorded or sent, there is no account and there are no ads.
