first thing that done was try to take over my home screen I wouldn't have it

It’s easy to switch back—open the app, tap ☰ Menu, select Help → Why does my home screen look different → Clear Default Launcher. Hope this helps. However, you can revert back easily: open the app, tap ☰ Menu, select Help, then 'Why does my home screen look different', and choose 'Clear Default Launcher.' Hope this helps.
