Android KM — HID keyboard, mouse & terminal via USB or Bluetooth
Openterface KeyCmd is an open-source Android app that turns your phone or tablet into a full-featured remote controller for any headless computer. Connect via the Openterface USB adapter or over Bluetooth, and your Android device acts as a keyboard, mouse, and terminal for the target machine — no network, drivers, or software installation required. Key features: - HID Keyboard & Mouse — Type and click on the host using your Android touchscreen or a paired Bluetooth keyboard/mouse. Includes IME support, macro keys, saved text snippets, and a keymap editor for custom layouts. - Gamepad mode — Remap a Bluetooth gamepad or your touchscreen into a virtual controller for the host. Ships with bundled presets and supports custom layouts. - Terminal (SSH & Serial) — Connect to the host over SSH for full shell access, or open a serial console directly through the USB adapter. Credentials are stored securely on your device. - Bluetooth control — Pair Bluetooth keyboards, mice, or gamepads with your Android device and forward the input to the host wirelessly. - Voice input — Dictate text to be typed on the host computer using speech recognition. - Help & tutorials — Built-in, offline-cached visual guides and videos walk you through every feature. Typical use cases: - Setting up or troubleshooting a headless server, mini-PC, or SBC (Raspberry Pi, Jetson, etc.) - Working on a retro PC or industrial machine with no display - Quick remote access from your phone when no other device is available - BIOS access or OS installation on bare-metal hardware How it works: The Openterface adapter plugs into the host's USB port. The Android app communicates with it over USB host mode (or Bluetooth, if your setup supports it), forwarding HID input and serial/SSH traffic transparently. Everything runs locally — no cloud, no accounts, no data leaves your devices. Open source: Released under an open-source license. Contributions, bug reports, and feature requests are welcome on the project repository.
