Divide an estate under Islamic law, with the evidence for every share
Mawarith divides an estate under the rules of Islamic inheritance (farāʾiḍ). It shows each heir their share with its evidence from the Qur'an, the Sunnah and the scholars, and explains in plain words who is excluded and why. It is built so any family member can finish the division alone: add the heirs, enter the estate and what is deducted from it, and see the result with the base of the case and its correction. Schools and codes • The majority view and the Hanafi, Maliki, Shafiʿi and Hanbali schools • The Moroccan Family Code, Egyptian inheritance law, the Algerian Family Code and the Tunisian Code of Personal Status, with the article cited for each rule • Compare the result across every school and code on one screen Heirs and cases • 27 kinds of heir: spouses, children and son's children, parents and grandparents, full, paternal and maternal siblings, brothers' sons, paternal uncles and their sons • Every kind of exclusion (ḥajb), each with its reason • ʿAwl and radd, al-ʿUmariyyatān, al-Akdariyya, al-Mushtaraka, al-Mālikiyya and muʿādda • Bequests capped at one third, and the mandatory bequest (tanzīl) where the law provides one • An unborn child, a missing heir, an heir of ambiguous sex, relatives who died together, and successive deaths (munāsakhāt) • Bars to inheritance: killing and difference of religion Clear and comfortable • A family tree that draws itself as you add heirs • A wheel showing each heir's part of the estate • Share the result as text with relatives • A history of past divisions, kept on your device • Arabic, English and French; Qur'an and hadith quotations stay in Arabic • Readable text that follows your device's font size Privacy Mawarith works offline, needs no account and collects no data. Your calculations stay on your device. Please note Results are for guidance and do not replace a qualified scholar or the competent court, especially in disputed or complex cases. Mawarith is independent and not affiliated with any government body. Relatives through women (dhawū al-arḥām) are not computed yet; the app says so when they would matter.
