Dash cam not recording? Check its SD card for gaps, broken clips and wear.
The SD card check for dash cams. Dash cam not recording? SD card keeps asking to be formatted? Clips that will not play? The memory card is the part of a dashcam that fails first, and it fails quietly. Readback reads the microSD card and tells you, in plain words, what it actually recorded and whether the card is on its way out. WHAT YOU GET - A clear verdict for the card: healthy, needs attention, or failing. - Every drive on a timeline, with the recording gaps marked to the minute. - The corrupted clips that will not open, the ones cut short, and the ones with no rear recording. - Play any clip from the card right in the app. - A plain explanation of each problem and what to do about it: format in the camera, check the power cable, or replace the card. - A history for each card, so you can see it getting worse before the day you need the footage. HOW IT WORKS 1. Switch the dash cam off and take the card out. 2. Plug it into your phone with a USB-C microSD reader, or copy the footage folder to your phone. 3. Pick the card's top folder. Readback finds the clip folders itself. Checks take a minute or two and work with any dash cam that records to a memory card. Use it alongside your camera's own dashcam app: that one connects to the camera, Readback checks what is actually on the card. MORE THAN AN SD CARD TEST An SD card test measures speed and capacity. It cannot tell you whether last week's drives were recorded, which clips are corrupted, or where the gaps are. Readback reads the footage itself. READ-ONLY, ON YOUR PHONE Readback opens the card read-only and never modifies, moves or deletes a file. Footage, file names and locations never leave your phone. No account needed. WHY NOT JUST FORMAT MONTHLY Formatting hides the symptoms. A card that has started dropping clips will drop them again, usually when it matters. A quick check after a long trip, or before you rely on the footage, tells you whether the card is still doing its job. READBACK PRO Readback has paid plans. Readback Pro covers every drive, the full history and trend for each card, and sharing a report with your insurer or installer. The plans and their prices are shown in the app before you buy, and a subscription can be cancelled any time in Google Play.
