fantastic! easy to read maps, trail section info is great. also love the offline maps implementation. I wish I could see trail elevation profiles a la alltrails.

UPDATE Oct 2026: now I cannot get any of the .gpx file to open in Garmin at all :'( Not a Garmin issue since other gpx files load ok I love this app, how much information is about the trails, making my own maps, etc.! I've recently been having an issue though where I create a trail, export the .gpx file to Google drive, open it in Garmin Connect, and the trail stops about 50% of the way through. So a 6 mile trail created here only imports the first 3 miles when transferring it to Garmin.

Hi Erin, Thanks for bringing this to our attention! Our developers are looking into the issue and hopefully we'll have an update that will fix this soon.
Trail information around Keystone (Tenderfoot Trail System especially) are out of date. Newer trails (Power Hair, Death Hair, Frog, ++ are not shown or updated from 2024.

best app for actively closed trails in Colorado. Only complaint is links to forestry department tend to be 404 now.

Does not show game hunting units in Colorado. Worthless for hunting.

Hi Don, Sorry we can't help you there! COTREX isn't intended to show game hunting units as it is not a hunting app. Its purpose is to show a comprehensive map of official trails and trailheads across the state. Colorado Parks and Wildlife does provide resources related to hunting on the Colorado Hunting Atlas Map. Hope that helps!
Nearly ideal to find trails and navigate. I use it for backpacking and it's great. I wish the app was better at customizing a route (marking camp sites and segmenting a route over multiple days would be helpful).
This is an amazing app for the price (Free!). The display is clean, the information is updated, the trail logging feature is great, and the ability to download tiles also works very well. I wish other states would hire the same developers!
