Your stack, weighed and logged. OunceTray is a record of the gold, silver, platinum and palladium you hold: every coin, round and bar with its weight, purity and what you paid. It adds up the fine ounces of each metal, shows melt value using the latest available spot price, and works out the premium you paid over spot on the day you bought.
THE STACK SCREEN
Silver and gold in big figures, troy ounces or grams, with melt value at the displayed spot price and the change from the previous saved price. Below them, your stack as a tray of your own photos. One tap hides every amount, for opening the app in company. Share my stack makes a picture of your ounces and photos that never shows money.
EVERY PIECE, ITS OWN RECORD
Metal, coin, round or bar, name, mint, year, gross weight in ounces, grams or kilograms, purity, quantity, price paid each, purchase date, dealer, storage location, tags, notes and up to six photos. Start from a common piece (American Silver Eagle, Maple Leaf, Britannia, Krugerrand, Sovereign, 90% US silver by face value, bars from 1 oz to 1 kg) and the weight and purity fill in for you. The form shows the fine metal as you type, so you can check the fine metal amount before saving.
PREMIUM OVER SPOT
OunceTray saves the daily spot prices it retrieves, so a coin you add on the day you buy it gets that day's spot filled in. The premium is worked out per piece and averaged per metal, weighted by ounces. A piece with no spot or no price shows its premium as unknown rather than zero, and is left out of the average.
SPOT PRICES
The app checks for updated spot prices once a day and saves the latest available quote, with the source and time on screen. Without a connection the app uses the last day it has, and you can type a price at any time.
SEARCH AND SORT
Search across name, mint, year, dealer, location and tags. Sort by newest purchase, name, fine weight, highest premium or melt value, and filter by metal.
SOLD PIECES
Record part or all of a holding sold, with what you received and the fees. The sold list shows the gain or loss against what those pieces cost, and what is left stays in your stack.
INSURANCE SHEET AND CSV
A PDF with each piece's photo, weight, purity, fine metal, price paid and purchase date, plus totals per metal, for a home insurance policy or a safe deposit record. A CSV of the inventory for your own spreadsheet.
YOUR RECORDS STAY YOURS
Your inventory and photos stay on your phone. Spot prices are retrieved online, but your holdings are not sent with the request. There is no account. Save a local backup of your holdings, sold records and photos, then restore it on another phone.
PLANS
The standard plan holds up to 30 holdings with the stack screen, spot prices, search, photos, sharing and backup, with a small banner ad on the Holdings and Sold lists and never on the stack screen. The full tray removes the cap and the ads and adds the average premium and cost basis per metal, recording what you sell, the insurance sheet and the CSV. You can try it for 14 days first, with no card. If you have more than 30 holdings when a trial or plan ends, every holding stays readable and editable; adding more needs the plan.
WHAT OUNCETRAY DOES NOT DO
OunceTray does not buy, sell or hold metal, does not appraise coins, and does not give financial or tax advice. Melt value is weight times the spot price shown, not an offer. Numismatic value is not included.
