First release. • Register that derives every examination date from what the item is — 6 months for an accessory, 12 for equipment • Pre-lift check: sling angle, the legs a standard lets you count, off-centre loads, and the weakest item • Examination log; a failure quarantines the item • Twelve-month workload chart, compliance rate, on-time streak • Search, filters, bulk archive, undo, kg or lb • CSV and JSON export, plus a check sheet you can file • 100% offline, one permission, no account
Lifting gear register: examination dates and a real pre-lift check
A workshop's lifting gear lives in two places: a rack, and a folder of certificates nobody opens until an inspector asks for it. Becket puts the register on the phone that is already in the yard, and then does the part a folder cannot. THE DATES WORK THEMSELVES OUT • Lifting ACCESSORIES — slings, shackles, eyebolts, hooks — are thoroughly examined every 6 months • Lifting EQUIPMENT — chain blocks, lever hoists, spreader beams — every 12 • Tell Becket what an item is and it derives the interval and the due date. A hand-entered interval is how an item quietly gets twice the life it is allowed • Month arithmetic, not 30-day steps: an examination on the 31st falls on the last day of a short month rather than gaining a few days of validity A CHECK BEFORE THE LOAD MOVES This is the part a spreadsheet gets wrong, and it gets it wrong in the dangerous direction. • THE LEGS. A four-leg sling on a rigid load is rated on THREE legs. The load cannot flex, so tolerance and any out-of-level leave the fourth leg along for the ride. Divide by four and every leg is under-reported by a third — at exactly the moment the arrangement looked acceptable • THE ANGLE. Tension along a leg is the vertical share divided by the cosine of the angle from vertical. At 60 degrees a leg carries twice the naive share. Below 30 degrees to the horizontal, the lift is refused outright • THE CENTRE OF GRAVITY. A load that is off to one side does not share equally. Reporting the average is how an overloaded leg hides inside an acceptable-looking total, so Becket reports the worst leg • THE WEAKEST LINK. Four tonnes of sling and a one-tonne shackle is a one-tonne arrangement. Every item is checked in the hitch it is actually rigged in — choking costs about a fifth, and a basket only doubles while the legs hang vertical Every refusal is explained in words, with the numbers it was decided on, so you can argue with it. QUARANTINE THAT CANNOT BE IGNORED A failed examination withdraws the item and keeps it on the register. It can still be picked for a lift, and the check refuses it loudly — because deleting it is how it ends up back on the load. SEE THE YEAR AHEAD A compliance percentage tells you whether you are in date today. Becket also charts the examinations landing in each of the next twelve months, which is the version of the question you can still do something about. KEEP IT ORGANISED • One search across gear and lifts, by tag, kind or location • Filter by status, sort by due date, rating, kind or where it lives • Pin what matters, multi-select to archive, undo any delete • Kilograms or pounds, switched in Settings — everything is stored in kilograms and converted for display, so changing the unit never reinterprets a record YOUR DATA, YOURS • Export the register as CSV with the DERIVED due dates and status included, not just what you typed • Export a pre-lift check as a sheet you can sign and file • Full JSON backup and restore. Nothing is locked in BUILT FOR THE YARD High contrast, large touch targets, monospaced figures that line up down a column, and every verdict carried by an icon and a word as well as a colour — because roughly one man in twelve cannot separate red from green, and this app's whole output is a red, amber and green judgement. 100% OFFLINE. NO ACCOUNT. NO TRACKING. Everything stays on your device. There is no sign-up, no server and no analytics. The app declares exactly one permission — INTERNET — used solely to open our privacy policy page from Settings. Our Play Data safety declaration is "no data collected, no data shared", and it is accurate. Becket checks the numbers you enter. It is not a thorough examination and does not replace a competent person. Free. No ads. No in-app purchases.
