Vathread is a portrait 2D process puzzle set in a riverside dyehouse. Begin in the Dyehouse Yard, inspect the festival flags already hanging on the line, choose an order from the Order Rail, and move to the Dye Table. The target swatch stays at the top, the continuous cloth ribbon and its active segment remain in the middle, and the vats, rinse trough, resist clamp, flip frame, and locking roller sit below as readable process entrances. Drag the highlighted cloth segment into a container and release it to commit the operation. Color and pattern appear on the real segment, the roller advances after a correct result, and a wrong vat, missed rinse, loose resist boundary, or reversed overdye order is marked where the problem occurred with a practical correction. The launch campaign contains eight handcrafted batches with eight distinct process structures: Three Stripes, White Chevron, Leaf Green, Sunrise Length, River Blue, Double Medallion, Twin Streamers, and River Procession. Difficulty begins with direct dipping, then introduces resist masking, ordered overdye, controlled dip depth, rinse contamination, two-sided registration, shared-bath reservation, and a long multi-stage procession banner. These are not palette swaps or tolerance-only variants. Each batch introduces a visible rule, a resource decision, or a new combination of process actions. The first session teaches through two playable steps: move the dotted segment to the dotted blue vat, then match the triangular red step. There is no separate instruction page to dismiss before play. Every committed action produces object-level visual feedback, sound, and a short skippable animation. Consecutive clean operations build a visible streak. Completing a process group creates a milestone celebration, while finishing a batch unfolds the complete flag. Completion records, Pattern Seals, 32 Recipe Card slots, best score, water use, and dip count are saved and represented in the yard or Pattern Book. Clean Dye is a completion rating based on avoiding contamination and extra dips; this version does not claim to measure real textile boundary accuracy. Reduce Motion removes broad waves and particles while preserving pattern fills, boundary marks, static result states, and completion markers. Dyes always pair color with dots, triangles, waves, borders, or other geometric cues. Advertising remains optional assistance. A rewarded ad may grant one practice attempt for a failed segment, redraw the three Tool Choice options, or add dye tabs at settlement. Rewards are granted only after a validated success callback. Advertising never dyes a segment, completes a flag, awards a Pattern Seal, or changes Clean Dye mastery. Interstitial requests are limited to suitable return points and remain subject to cooldown. Loading, failure, timeout, and desktop-unavailable paths have a visible wait state and return control to the player. Every store screenshot comes from the real English Godot gl_compatibility runtime. The images do not repaint ideal boundaries or advertise free painting, real fluid simulation, unlimited recipes, network pattern sharing, or automatic level generation.
