SSH terminal, SFTP and port forwarding. No account, keys stay on your phone.
Portlight is an SSH client for people who run servers. A real terminal, file access and port forwarding — no account, no cloud, no telemetry.
A TERMINAL THAT BEHAVES
• Full xterm terminal: htop, vim and tmux work as they do on a desktop
• A key bar with Esc, Tab, Ctrl, Alt, arrows, Home/End and PgUp/PgDn
• Several tabs per server, pinch to zoom, landscape mode, 10,000 lines of scrollback
• Select and copy, paste into the shell
• Sessions keep running in the background while you check something else
FILES AND TUNNELS
• SFTP: browse, download, upload, rename, delete and change permissions
• Local port forwarding: reach a database or dashboard behind the server from your phone
• Jump hosts (ProxyJump) for servers you cannot reach directly
KEYS THAT STAY PUT
• Generate ed25519 keys on the phone or import your own, passphrase-protected ones included
• Private keys live in the Android Keystore and are left out of every backup
• Host keys are checked on every connection; a changed key stops the connection — there is no "continue anyway"
• Optional app PIN with auto-lock
SAVED COMMANDS
• Snippets with {{variables}} — fill them in and run them in one tap
AI OPERATOR (OPTIONAL, BRING YOUR OWN KEY)
• Ask in plain language — "why is the disk full?" — and get a command with an explanation and a risk tag
• Nothing runs until you approve it; destructive commands need a second confirmation
• Works with your own Anthropic, OpenAI, OpenRouter or Ollama key; secrets are masked before anything is sent
• A local log of every suggestion and decision
PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• No account and no sign-up
• No analytics, no ads, no tracking
• Your hosts, keys and settings stay on this phone, in an encrypted database
