Finds the real reason faster when location is the problem. If you're somewhere Google doesn't show ads, or your VPN connects through such a place, the app now says so up front, even on the home screen. It also recognises national internet filters, tells you when your VPN itself is fine, and opens more smoothly on slower phones.
Ads not loading in your game? Let's figure out what to try — in plain language.
Ads not loading in your game? Stuck on a "Watch ad" button that does nothing, a video that freezes, or "No ads available right now"? Why Can't I Watch Ads? tests your phone with one real ad, and if it doesn't come through, checks the usual suspects and tells you in plain language what's worth trying. No account, no setup. A banner ad sits at the bottom of the screen, and each check loads a fresh ad when you tap it. HOW IT WORKS 1. Pick a check. "Check banner ads" is quick and can't get stuck. "Check video ads" plays the kind of full-screen video games show you for rewards. 2. If the ad shows up (or the video plays all the way through), your phone can show ads. The app you were having trouble with is probably having a bad moment, or has run out of ads to show for now. 3. If it doesn't, the app checks your phone and connection and shows you up to three findings, most likely first. Each one comes with a button that opens the right Settings screen. WHAT IT CAN SPOT • You're offline, or stuck on a Wi-Fi network that wants you to sign in first (hotels, airports, cafés) • Private DNS is set to a service that blocks ads. This is the most common one: many "block ads on Android" guides tell you to turn it on, and it quietly stops reward videos in games too • An ad-blocking or filtering app, or a VPN, is running on your phone • A VPN makes your phone look like it's in a different country from its other settings • Your Wi-Fi or mobile network is blocking the websites ads come from • Secure connections aren't working on this phone • Google Play Services is missing or out of date • Android System WebView, the part of Android that draws most ads, is out of date • Personalised ads are turned off • Google's ad permission message couldn't load, or you said no to it (which means fewer ads here and in other apps where you gave the same answer) • You're on a mobile network in a country where Google doesn't show ads, so changing settings won't help • The ad network simply didn't answer in time WE SUGGEST, WE DON'T PRONOUNCE Working out what's wrong with a phone from the inside of one app is hard. So even when we're fairly sure, we'll say "this is a good first thing to check" rather than tell you we know. If we say your phone looks fine and you still can't watch ads, tap "Still can't watch ads? Send a report". It opens an email with the check results, you decide whether to send it, and every report helps us spot problems we can't test for ourselves. IN YOUR LANGUAGE English, Spanish, Portuguese, Indonesian, Hindi and Russian. The app follows your phone's language, or the per-app language setting on Android 13 and later. HONEST ABOUT THE ADS • The test ad is a real Google AdMob ad. That's how the app pays for itself, and it's the only way to really know whether ads reach your phone. • In Europe, the UK and Switzerland, you'll see Google's standard ad-permission message before any ad. There, and in US states with privacy laws, you can change your choice any time from About → Privacy choices. • We don't run our own servers, analytics or crash reporting. The checks run on your phone, and the results are gone when you close the app unless you choose to email a report. • Google AdMob collects what it collects to show ads (advertising ID, approximate location from your connection, ad interactions). You can reset your advertising ID or turn off personalised ads in your phone's settings. This app doesn't block ads and can't make another app show more of them. It finds what on your phone or connection is stopping ads from getting through, so you know what to try. Made for anyone whose game says "watch an ad to continue" and then doesn't, and for the friends and family who get asked to fix it.
