Break the scroll. Set daily limits, block distracting apps, take back your time
Read full description
Limit blocks the apps that eat your day and gives you a daily time budget to spend on them on purpose. Open Social media apps and Limit steps in first, so every minute you spend there is one you chose.
How it works
• Pick the apps that pull you in. They are blocked by default.
• Set one daily budget for all of them together, for example 60 minutes.
• When you want in, take a break: 10 minutes, 15 minutes or all the time you have left. A small timer floats on screen while it runs.
• When the budget is gone, those apps stay closed until your daily reset.
New: Reel Count (optional, uses the AccessibilityService API)
• Counts short videos you watch on Social media Apps, and how long you spend on them.
• Set a daily reel limit by number of videos or by minutes. When it runs out, only the reel feeds close. The rest of the app stays open.
• With Reel Count on, Apps are limited only on Short Videos, so long videos and chats still work.
• Your break timer shows today's count, and counts down once you set a limit.
How Limit uses the AccessibilityService API
Limit uses Android's AccessibilityService API for one feature only: Reel Count. Android offers no other way for an app to know that a short video is on screen, so Reel Count needs it to count the reels and short videos you watch in other apps, measure the time you spend on them, and detect when a reel feed is open so Limit can close just that feed once your reel limit is used up.
• What it reads: which app is open, whether a full-screen video feed is showing, and whether you have scrolled to a new video.
• What it never does: tap, swipe, type or change anything in any app, or record what the videos are, who posted them or anything you write.
• No data collected or shared: everything it reads is processed on your phone and never leaves it.
• Your choice: Reel Count is off by default. Before you turn it on, Limit shows what the service does and asks for your consent, then you enable "Limit Reel Count" in Android's Accessibility settings. You can turn it off there at any time.
See where your time goes
• Time and reels for each day of the week. Tap a bar to see the exact number.
• Your longest and shortest sessions, your average session and your streak.
• Scroll cost: see today's scrolling as money you could have earned, book pages or calories.
• A home screen widget with today's budget.
A pause before you scroll
• The block screen suggests something better to do, like a 10-minute walk. You choose the list.
• Emergency access opens only after a short countdown. Most people leave before it ends.
