3D physics simulator: learn levers, pulleys, ramps and mechanical advantage.
Mechanisms Lab is a hands-on course on simple machines: levers, gears, pulleys, ramps, screws and wedges, each one a 3D scene you can orbit, zoom and run. A live force meter shows the effort the machine needs and its mechanical advantage, calculated from the textbook relation for that exact setup: the same physics used in mechanical engineering, not a number made up for show. HOW A LESSON WORKS Read a short, plain-English explanation with a diagram. Check yourself with a quiz or a real-world scenario, each with a worked explanation. Then open the 3D lab for that machine, tap Run and watch the force and the mechanical advantage update. Some lessons add a slider mini-lab (lever balance, gear ratio or ramp trade-off) where the numbers recalculate the moment you move it. WHAT'S INSIDE • 31 lessons in five units: Levers · Gears & Pulleys · Ramps, Screws & Wedges · Compound Machines · Advanced Compound Machines • Four "Job Order" capstones: spec a machine yourself and prove it lifts the load within the force budget • A 3D physics lab in every lesson: orbit, pinch to zoom, Run, Reset • A solver for eight mechanical advantage relations (lever, wheel and axle, gear, fixed pulley, movable pulley, inclined plane, screw, wedge), chained stage by stage for compound machines • The Lab tab: a lever warm-up bench and six puzzle benches where you lift the load within a force budget • The Workshop: pick one of eight machine types, tune its geometry and goal, run it and see whether it solves • Progress bars for each unit and a progress ring on the home screen • An AI hint for when a 3D lab has you stuck • Light and dark themes, 10 languages WHAT YOU LEARN First-, second- and third-class levers and where the fulcrum goes. Gear ratios, torque and speed, and gear trains. Fixed and movable pulleys and the block and tackle. Why a longer inclined plane needs less force, the screw as a ramp wrapped around a cylinder, and the wedge. Then compound machines (lever plus pulley, gears up a ramp, the winch, a gear train into a screw jack) where mechanical advantages multiply stage by stage. WHO IT IS FOR Students meeting simple machines in physics or STEM class, anyone who half-remembers "effort arm over load arm" and wants the intuition back, makers who want to reason about a pulley or gear setup before building it, and parents or teachers looking for a physics lab rather than another flashcard app. It is also a friendly refresher on levers, gears and pulleys if you are brushing up for a mechanical aptitude test, although it is not a test-prep course and not an engineering qualification. FREE AND PRO Free: all of Unit 1 (six Levers lessons plus its capstone), the first two Gears & Pulleys lessons, the whole Lab tab and the Workshop. Free users can unlock up to 3 AI hints a day by watching a short video ad. The free version shows a small banner for our other apps and occasional full-screen video ads. Pro: every lesson in all five units, unlimited AI hints and no ads. Pro is a monthly or yearly subscription; the price is shown in the app before you buy, and you can cancel anytime in Google Play. YOUR DATA No sign-up needed: the app starts you on a guest profile. Lessons and 3D labs are built into the app. The AI hint runs only after you agree to it; it sends the bench, its task text and the force values on screen to our server, which passes them to a third-party AI service. The app uses Firebase analytics and, in the free version, Google AdMob full-screen and rewarded video ads. Privacy Policy: https://coddykit.com/terms/privacy-policy
