Floating notifications from any app.
A notification is easy to swipe away. A bubble drifting across whatever you're doing is not.
Floatify started with a simple annoyance: I kept missing things. The WhatsApp from my partner, the meeting that moved, the "call back before 5" I'd read and forgotten two seconds later. Notifications sit politely in a shade and wait to be ignored. So I built reminders that don't wait. They float over your screen, on top of every app, until you do something about them.
TAP IT, AND DECIDE
A float is a small bubble that drifts around. Tap it and you get a choice, right there:
• Snooze it: 1, 5, 10 or 30 minutes, 1, 6, 12 or 24 hours, 2 days, a week, a custom time, or an exact date and time
• Dock it to the edge of your screen, out of the way but not out of mind
• Delete it, and be done with it
Snoozed a float? It goes away and comes back when you said it would. The Snoozed Floats list (and its home-screen widget) shows what's coming back and when.
TWO WAYS TO USE IT
Pick a mode when you start. You can switch whenever you like.
SIMPLE: every notification you care about becomes a float. That's it. One switch per app, no account, nothing to set up. Put WhatsApp, your mail and your calendar app on, leave the noisy ones off. Done in under a minute.
ADVANCED: everything Simple does, plus your own toolbox. Create floats yourself, share text from any app straight into Floatify, sync with Google Calendar, keep your phones and tablets in step through Google Drive, choose a shape per app, see statistics.
SMALL THINGS I CARE ABOUT
• Floats can sit docked on the edge of the screen, or in a sidebar tab you pull open
• Quiet hours, so nothing floats at 3 a.m.
• Sound is your call: a soft bubble pop, your ringtone, or silence
• Shapes: balloons, helicopters, rabbits, frogs, sailboats, dinosaurs, the icon of the app itself, or any emoji you like. All free
• Widgets in light or dark, with adjustable transparency
• Reminders on your Wear OS watch when a float expires
• Colour, transparency and speed, so floats look the way you want
WHAT IT NEEDS, AND WHY
• Display over other apps: that's the whole trick. Without it a float has nowhere to float
• Notification access: only to turn notifications from the apps you pick into floats
• Usage access: so Floatify knows which app is open and can hide a float while you are in the app it belongs to
The app walks you through each one when you start.
WHO IT'S FOR
People who have read a message, thought "I'll answer later", and then didn't. People with too many notifications to trust the notification shade. People who simply like their phone to nudge them a bit more firmly.
Floatify is built by one developer, in Europe, and it's still growing. Found something annoying, or missing? Send a mail, I read all of it.
Let your reminders float.
